I have been trying to compile up something for all the people who want to get on to linux.
Linux is first of all open source meaning for free. For a beginner this will be so much fun as it can run on almost any computer even those with low specifications. Linux has great power and a firm structure in terms of networking, to verify that the most powerful space station is run on linux and is multi billion dollar structure(how is that for a start)
So you may ask which one is the linux whilst you don’t get it as that. The thing is like this, linux is built from a kernel which is like the heart of the OS. So with this you can be able to built your own linux version. Which I will show you later on my site step by step till you have your own linux version. So just as so people made their own and out of those people liked others more so decided to take on the effort of supporting what others made. From there that is where the distro’s came into play. So the most common ballers that came where Debian, Red-hat, Suse, Mandravia, knoppix and Slackware. These were the first boys to hit the market hard. I won’t go any further on who followed and how it went but I will tell you of the current big boys.
Debian still is a big boy in terms of web servers which is a topic I will talk of later. From debian was born Ubuntu which is the distro I will work on mainly which has tones of software. Red hat then left the open source world but this distro also had a large community that could support a user. From it was born a distro called Centos. Suse was the big guy just some years back in terms of software libraries but it surely coming to an end as there is now more hustle to acquire the software. Now for the linux senoirs was and still is Slackware the original linux. Now the thing with this distro is that for you first of all to install it needs a good verse on linux(will look on that later as well). It has no graphical user interface so it basically runs on commands. This distro has no official support so if you get stck you are on your own. It needs 4 disks to install and some you could get one http://www.slackware.org. If you want more on this post a comment on it and I will look at it.
Now starting on the line of Ubuntu distro. This has one of the best if not the best software installation systems online. The installation is smooth given that you just set it up well. You can search for the software you want on a linux software server repository and in a few clicks it will be done. This can also be done through use of commands but will state that later.
There is not chance of you getting a virus with ubuntu and the software will have been validated at software repository upload. If you want to use ubuntu I will just say think out of the box and think like how you would talk. Say you want an application click on it just as it states. Ubuntu was made with a specific purpose to make it easy even for a computer first time user.
Say you want your computer talk to you make keyboard shortcuts that make you do anything you so wish with a few key strokes. Linux has been made in such a way that it runs comfortably for a years without switching off the computer.
If you get so obsessed with this distro you can install it on your smart phone easily. This I will show you as well step buy step from my website.
That is just a summary of linux if you want more just pop up a comment on the blog. For those unanswered parts just stay in tune for more. Next I will have a short discussion on Android and the future
